About Addiction Treatment

No one wakes up with the intention of becoming an addict. Often genetic predisposition to addiction, traumatic events or psychological disturbances instigate self-soothing with substances. Use becomes abuse, abuse turns into debilitating dependency.

Sovereign Health understands that women fall into addiction from nuanced circumstances; so likewise treatment must be uniquely individualized. We holistically treat women addicted to drugs or alcohol, specializing particularly in survivors of trauma and abuse.

When a patient comes to us newly detoxed, Sovereign of Arizona begins with specialized phase of trauma-informed care for women with acute post-traumatic stress disorder – it’s called Serenity House.

Serenity House

A lesson from the artichoke: Its inner beauty, the ripe part that nourishes those who love it, is covered by rough, thorny scales that protect its tender heart.

Heat relaxes the impenetrable scales and naturally makes it ripe for enjoying.

So it is with one damaged and hardened by trauma, mental disorder and substance abuse. Trauma may have scorched a woman’s soul but here at Serenity House, we are the greenhouse to a tender heart.

We cultivate a woman’s innermost self with a safe, stable physical and emotional environment, paying special attention to sleep hygiene, individuals’ residual flight or fight reflexes and triggers. We use mindful therapies and scientifically advanced brain wellness techniques to open a woman up so she can properly engage in her treatment.

Serenity House women are welcomed with other newcomer substance abuse patients into residential treatment at any one of 10 living spaces. This women’s retreat-like atmosphere makes addiction treatment with Sovereign inviting and effectual.
